A Prayer Of Family Blessing From Deuteronomy 28
Today I’m declaring Deuteronomy 28 over my life and the lives of my family. Because verse 1, now, it shall be, If you diligently obey the Lord your God, So here, Lord, I am to say, that we diligently have obeyed the Lord our God. We have been careful to do all your commandments that you have commanded us.
Therefore, you said, the Lord your God will set us on high above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come upon us and overtake us if we obey the Lord our God. So we’re standing to declare, blessed are we in this city. Blessed shall we be in the country. Blessed shall be the offspring of my body and the produce of our ground.
The offspring of our beasts and the increase of our herd and the young of our flock. Blessed shall be. My basket, or my pantry, or my kneading bowl. So blessed is my kitchen, my food will not run out. Blessed shall I be when I come in to worship the Lord, to receive from the Lord. And blessed shall I be when I go out into the world where you have sent us.
Verse 7, the Lord will cause our enemies who rise up against us to be defeated. They will come out against us in one way, but they’re going to flee seven ways. That includes my property, my work, my car, my children, my husband.
The enemies who rise up against us will be defeated. Verse 8, The Lord, Lord, I’m asking you and claiming that you will command the blessing upon us in our barns and in all that we put our hand to. That you will bless us in the land which the Lord your God gives us.
You, oh Lord, will establish us as a holy people to yourself. You swore this. You swore if we kept the commandments of the Lord your God and we walk in your ways, that you will establish us. You will make us holy. That all the peoples of the earth will see that we are called by the name of the Lord, and they will be afraid of us.
The Lord will make us abound in prosperity, in the offspring of our body, in the offspring of our beast, and in the produce of our ground. In the land which the Lord swore to our fathers to give us. Verse 12, the Lord will open for us his good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to our land in its season, and to bless all the work of our hand.
We will lend to many nations, to many peoples, but we shall not borrow. The Lord will make us the head and not the tail. You only will be above and you will not be beneath. If you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully, and do not turn aside from any of the words which I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Father, we proclaim obedience over our lives. over our children, that they will hear your voice and obey, that we will not turn back like Isaiah. I believe it was 50. We will not be disobedient.
Lead us in the way everlasting. Keep us on the right path. Amen.
